The Sidney Stern Memorial Trust, a charitable California trust, was established in 1974 through the Will of S. Sidney Stern and is funded entirely from his estate. Distribution of Trust grants is managed by a Board of Advisors, which reviews each funding proposal. The Board regularly receives reports from the Trustee concerning the financial status of the Trust.
The Trust supports non-profit organizations that have substantial and meaningful effect on their target populations and contribute to the general welfare. Because the Board cannot meet all demands on its resources, it gives priority to the following areas: education, youth summer camps, socio-economic equity and equality, food security, legal justice, medical research and care, arts and arts education, and scientific research.
The Board does not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation or religion.
